Meesters&Gezellen is a series of concerts by young professional singers (Gezellen) and experienced colleagues (Meesters). Twenty Gezellen and four Meesters from Cappella Amsterdam will prepare a challenging programme under the musical direction of Daniel Reuss. They will perform seven concerts throughout the Netherlands.
The project’s goal is to offer young singers experience in ensemble singing at a high level, in addition to their solo-singing education. Participants will be tested with the demanding repertoire of Eastern sacred choral music, becoming acquainted with the Eastern Orthodox, Armenian, and Syriac traditions. They will also gain valuable insights into participating in a professional Dutch choir, working on intonation and creating a unified choral sound.
The repertoire
The repertoire contains substantial solo parts, to be performed by the Gezellen.
We are looking for:
Young professional singers, with well-developed solo voices.
We offer:
• Intensive preparation with singing coach Geert Berghs and singers of Cappella Amsterdam.
• Rehearsals and concerts conducted by Daniel Reuss.
• Reimbursement of costs.
• Tea, coffee and (simple) meals during rehearsals and before concerts.
